Arthur ChanArthur Chan is a rising senior at Monta Vista with a passion for engineering and robotics. He has competed for 1 year in FIRST Tech Challenge and 5 years in FIRST LEGO League as a participant and mentor. He taught himself Python, took AP Computer Science A in his junior year, and will attend COSMOS Autonomous Vehicles at UC San Diego over the summer. In his free time, he plays volleyball for Monta Vista and enjoys watching sports. |
Aseem RajopadhyeAseem Rajopadhye is an incoming senior at Monta Vista High School. He has participated in Science Olympiad for the past five years, appearing twice at national competitions and won countless medals in Geology, Paleontology, Biology, and Astronomy fields, some of which on a State and National level. He was captain of the team that won the 2018-2019 Science Olympiad Division B Nationals and has been selected for a Rosetta Institute Program for Bioinformatics of Cancer |
Deetshana ParthipanDeetshana is a rising senior at Monta Vista High School. She was the life and earth science event captain for the national-winning Kennedy Science Olympiad team. She has won numerous medals for biology and earth science events at the regional, state, and national levels. Deetshana is also a competitive speaker winning many medals at competitions. She was a branch head at the Monta Vista Speech and Debate Team and Kennedy Middle. |
Leela SrinivasLeela Srinivas is a rising senior at Monta Vista High School and is the Vice President of Engineering in Monta Vista Science Olympiad. She's participated in Science Olympiad for the past four years and has competed at the national level twice, winning multiple medals and helping Kennedy win the 2019 National Tournament. |
Ryan LiRyan Li is a rising senior at Monta Vista High School. He has been a TA for 9th Grade Biology, being very passionate about the fields of biology and chemistry. He has also conducted and published research on analyzing changes in the Bay Area’s climate over the past half-century, and is a Scholastic Writing Awards Silver Key winner. |
Amol RamaAmol Rama is a rising junior at Monta Vista High School. He has participated in Science Olympiad over the past four years, making two national appearances and winning numerous medals in Earth Science, Physics, and Chemistry events. In the 2019-2020 season, he was the co-captain of the Science Olympiad team. In addition, he has qualified for the AIME multiple times, been awarded the AMC 10 Distinguished Honor Roll multiple times, and made USAJMO in 2019. Furthermore, he has been a teacher's assistant in mathematics for the last two years. |
Angela ZhangAngela Zhang is a rising junior at Monta Vista High School. For two years on the Kennedy Science Olympiad team, she has medaled in almost every single event she has participated in, including medals at regionals, states, and nationals. She has also achieved the Semifinalist status in the USA BioOlympiad competition, and continues to mentor incoming Kennedy Gold team members. |
Anusha ChittariAnusha Chittari is a senior who is passionate about STEM. She has four years of experience in Science Olympiad, including Division B and Division C competitions. Over the past four years she has competed and won medals in engineering, cryptography, programming, and ecology. At the National Divison B tournament she placed third in her engineering event, contributing to her team, which placed first overall. Anusha is looking forward to teaching students in the future. |
Arthur PerngArthur Perng is senior who has participated in Science Olympiad and won national medals. In high school, he has focused on programming and cybersecurity skill building. He founded the cybersecurity club Fweefwop, as well as qualified for AIME. Fweefwop placed in Platinum in CyberPatriot-XII and was a finalist in the Bay Area Regional contest. |
Daphne Guo
Daphne Guo is a student at Monta Vista High School. She participates in Science Bowl and Science Olympiad, and she was the Event Captain for Earth, Space and Physical Sciences of the Kennedy Science Olympiad National Champion Team, as well as being the Event Supervisor at several nationwide Science Olympiad invitationals. She has qualified for the AIME multiple times. |
Jai SharmaJai Sharma is a senior at Monta Vista High School. Jai is currently working with the National High School Journal of Science (NHSJS) to publish a research paper on Collatz Conjecture, an unsolved math problem, based on his work in the Camp Euclid summer program. In 2021, he won the 2nd place ACM award for his project on Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis using Deep Neural Networks in the Synopsys Science Fair. An AIME qualifier, Jai teaches math competition preparation to elementary and middle school students. He is the author of “Conquering the AMC 8,” a math book on AMC 8 preparation. Jai has also participated in Science Olympiad and won numerous medals at the regional, state, and national levels. |
Joseph LeeJoseph Lee is a senior at Monta Vista High School. He has won numerous Science Olympiad medals for biology, astronomy, and flight engineering events at the regional, state, and national levels from 2017-2021, participating at National Competitions. He medaled in all of his events in the National Champion team, of which he was Co-Team Captain and Event Captain for Space, Biological Sciences, and Flight Engineering. He is also a mentor for the Kennedy Middle School Science Olympiad Gold Team and is the VP of Engineering in Monta Vista Science Olympiad. |
Varun KumaraveluVarun Kumaravelu is a Biology Event Captain with the Monta Vista Science Olympiad team, and has competed in Science Olympiad for four years, and was a member of the team that won the 2019 Division B National tournament. He has won innumerable medals in Paleontology, Herpetology, Astronomy, Genetics, and Ecology, including multiple at the Regional, State, and National level. |
Andrew ZhouAndrew Zhou is a junior at Monta Vista High School. As the Event Captain of Physical & Earth Sciences and Engineering, he earned 2 gold metals for Kennedy Science Olympiad at the 2021 National Tournament. He is also a 2-time AIME qualifer, qualifying in the 8th and 9th grades. He is an experienced and devoted tutor with experience in private competetive math tutoring. |
Anish BayyapuAnish Bayyapu is a junior at Monta Vista High School. Anish has participated in science olympiad for 4 years, and has been to Nationals 3 times. This year, as the Team Captain, he medaled in all 4 of his events, including one gold and one silver. He is also a 2 time AIME qualifier, qualifiying in 2021 and 2020. He is also a member of Fweefwop, a cybersecurity club which won platinum in Cyber-Patriot XIII, and placed 94th in the National Cyber Scholarship, which awarded a finalist ranking. Anish has also been tutoring kids in computer science for the last year, and is a USACO silver. |
Ashish KashyapAshish Kashyap is a bright junior at Monta Vista High School. He earned medals at the Nationals in 2021 in all of his three events . As the event captain for Engineering, he has been a winner and proctor on several different build and engineering devices and won medals for his team in various Biology and Chemistry events over three years. He also started and leads the programming club at his troop. |

Irene Tian is a junior at Monta Vista High School. She earned medals in all of her events (Disease Detective, Heredity, Ornithology, and Fossils) at the 2021 Science Olympia National Tournament for Kennedy including 2 gold medals, as the Event Captain of Epidemiological, Life and Paleontological Sciences. |
Ishanvi KommulaIshanvi Kommula is a junior at Monta Vista Highschool. Ishanvi has participated in Science Olympiad for three years and medaled in all four events at the 2021 National Tournament as the Event Captain of Forensics and Paleontological Sciences, including one gold and one silver medal. Ishanvi also enjoys computer science and is a USACO Gold contestant. |
Justin Lo
Justin is a dual-enrolled high school student at Foothill College. As a tinkerer by heart, he has been building computers since he was 9. Justin enjoys being cost effective, and likes comparing components, scouting for deals on obscure models, and trading parts. His hobby is researching new topics of interest and formulating project ideas.

Michael was the nationals Science Olympiad Team Captain and has competed in at Science Olympiad Nationals since 6th grade. Michael has medaled in Experimental Design, Bridge, Boomilever, Tower, Electric Wright Stuff, Elastic Launched Glider, Mission Possible, Ping Pong Parachute, Game On, and Meteorology at Nationals, State and Regional. Michael is passionate about Cybersecurity and computer systems and enjoys gardening, biking and the outdoors.
